Meet Me In THE NEW Cozumel

Just before Chicago's ITME, I had the opportunity to visit many meeting planners with Tulio Baruch, the Sales Manager of the Presidente InterContinental Cozumel during his sales calls in the United States. He had an amazing presentation showing the new resort and talking about the changes they had made to the experience people will now receive when they travel to Cozumel. The hotel was completely gutted and rebuilt maintaining only its private island location.

The company spent just over 25 million dollars to replace the resort, and added new features planners are going to be very happy to see. They reduced the number of rooms on property to add several ocean view suites. The Resort has many true beachfront rooms, where from your bed to the sand is a few steps away. Two meeting rooms were added, and if you have a group in house of 50 rooms or more, they will NOT take another group. Tulio spent some time talking to planners about the resort's renovation, about how they kept their staff and took them through a year-long training program to provide clients with their new concept in services. He talked about how they were requesting the 5th diamond, how they would be Leading Hotels of The World, and how they are in the process of being rated by Virtuoso to add the prestigious label to their resort.

Now, what I found very interesting is their commitment to letting their clients experience Mexico, its people, and their customs. They will greet you with the Mayan word "hello" [which I of course forgot], fill your fruit baskets with Mayan delicacies and tell you about its origin. They have redesigned their uniforms and even the housekeeping carts to resemble traditional Mayan design. Your pillow will have information about some of the myths and goddesses from the area, and once per week they have invited one of the local historians to come in and bring to the guests details about the culture, its artifacts, and traditions. With flights to Cozumel from Atlanta, Charlotte, Huston, and Dallas, along with the impressive resort and its new culture-packed experience, it's worth taking a look Cozumel.

Please send me your comments; I'd love to hear about your experiences

I love the fact that we can bring clients back to this destination. It is amazing and the hotel sounds great!

I like that it's close to Cancun so the airfare is inexpensive for my groups.

Give me more details.

Hello Eddy,

The resort is amazing...and I think that it's really the fact that they're going to empower the clients with knowledge about the culture that makes it truely unique.

Everything from traditional dress to learning how to say hello in Mayan, and having an historian at the resort to tell us the history of Cozumel.

5 diamond, 5 star, Leading Hotels, Virtuoso...guaranteed luxury with a touch of real class.
